Motivation is the driver behind every step you take - everything that you do to get closer to the goal you’ve set for yourself. When there isn’t enough of it - we struggle, even to just get started. It’s a common problem in our era and that’s why working on it is very important for each and every one of us. When it comes to the exercise programs, the statistic isn’t good news. In fact, the research suggests that half of the people starting an exercise program will drop out in the first 6 months. I’ve been there and I’m sure a lot of you had too. That’s why it’s important for us to talk about this. We’d like to help you either to get started with a healthier lifestyle or to keep you going if you’re already actively working on it.
Now, motivation can come from many different things and can vary in degrees of importance from one person to another. But what we’ve found out is that the most important thing is to find the main reason that will keep us going no matter what. However, this reason has to be a personal one. Personal? What do we mean? Well, sounds like common sense, but hear me out. When you are motivated for the right reasons – the process is much simpler and you’re more focused on the goal. Think, how many times have you decided to do something, not for personal reasons, but for something or someone else? It may seem fairly obvious, but many start on the wrong foot and therefore can’t always find the motivation needed to take the actions for the results that they want. This is often the difference between failing and succeeding.
So, ask yourself why is it that you want to get healthier? Getting healthier for the sake of good health is a good reason for itself, don’t get me wrong. But asking "Why?" while allowing yourself to be brutally honest may help you dig up something else, maybe something you weren't even able to admit to yourself.
What I've found for myself was that - being as healthy as I possibly can, will help me combat the feeling of powerlessness and hopelessness that I sometimes have. I realized that I want to be in control of my life, my future, my destiny – whatever you call it. And being in the best shape that I can, nourishing my body and taking care of my health, in general, is the way to go for me.
Now, what you can do to start is - take a piece of paper and a pen, write down every possible reason, but make sure they’re all personal and important to you, and then take a look to see which of reasons can be linked, connected or grouped, look for the patterns and try to summarize it to a few. Which of these reasons is the most important to you, which of them spark the emotions in you and which reasons stick out of the rest? Maybe it's not one main reason, maybe there's two or three. Now turn around the paper and write it down in big letters right there in the middle. Circle it. Bold it. Then start listing everything else around it. This is your map for the journey you’re about to take. This is your bull’s-eye. The objective. The purpose. Slap it on a wall in front of you so you can always keep your mind on it.
Other ways of keeping you pumped with the sweet motivation juice are to have your friends keep you accountable. Tell them about your goals so they can give you a kick in the right direction from time to time. Having the right music playing in the background can have you up your game. Find Instagram accounts like ours (@moviactivewear) that try to inspire their followers to keep up and join Facebook groups in which members support each other, maybe even find a Youtuber that is either going through the same thing or is a coach, a trainer or some other kind of a professional helping the community out – really anything that’ll keep you going.
